The Council for the Defence of British Universities (CDBU) is pleased to announce that it is hosting a symposium on the subject of academic governance, in collaboration with Influencing Corridors of Power (ICOP) at SOAS on July 11.

The symposium will be an all-day event of 4 sessions, with a number of highly distinguished and expert speakers. The aim of the day will be critically to examine the state of the governance of UK universities. The programme has been designed to allow for exchanges with the speakers and between members of the audience in a setting that is excellent for collegial discussion. The event promises to make a significant and timely contribution to the present debate. Lunch will be available (free of charge).

Confirmed speakers include: Prof. Michael Shattock (UCL), Melody Stephen (Manchester), Prof. Steve Jones (Manchester), Alex Bols (Guild HE), Prof. Peter Scott (UCL), Prof. Gill Evans (Cambridge), Lord David Willetts, Dr Rowan Williams, and Prof. Ron Barnett (CDBU).
